greek yogurt add-in

Many people complain that they do not like the taste of plain greek yogurt. So they buy the sweetened version instead which is loaded with sugar and totally ruins the quality of this nutritious food. (unless its PWO/ post workout, I would put the sweetened version away.)  I guess I am the strange one who can eat this stuff plain or sprinkled with stevia or chocolate whey.  But I dont expect everyone to be like me!
I have to thank Kathy C. for this idea, I tried it and now Im hooked!

Here are the basic ingredients:

  • 1 oz walnuts
  • 2 TBSP unsweetened coconut flakes
  • 1/8c raisins
  • 2 tsp cinnamon (you can adjust this to your liking)
  • a splash of stevia (optional, I actually dont need it, but its for you sweet addicts)

Blend all the ingredients in a small food processor or blender.  This makes 3 servings, so split into 3 portions, which comes to about 20g per portion. (for those of you weighing your food).

Total calories of this topping comes out to about 100. So if you add this to a 100 calorie greek yogurt serving, this is only a 200 calorie snack and very nutritious, and low in sugar.
